California Air Resources Board
Precertifies PennzSuppress®
D
The California Air Resources Board (ARB) has issued their first ever dust
suppressant precertification to PennzSuppress®
D. PennzSuppress® D was reviewed by the
California ARB Equipment and Process Precertification Program which is a
voluntary program by which manufacturers of products that have a beneficial
impact on air quality can have their product performance claims independently
verified by ARB scientists.
The precertification process for PennzSuppress®
D consisted of a lengthy and detailed statistical data validation of a
previous dust control efficiency study conducted on PennzSuppress®
D by the Midwest Research Institute (MRI) (see this page
for a summary of the MRI testing). The MRI report contains the results of
multiple road tests that were conducted on public and private roads. The ARB
simplified the data review by using data generated from a county road that was
tested by MRI because it best simulated the performance one would expect on a
public roadway.
The California ARB found PennzSuppress® D
effective in reducing PM10 (particulate material 10 microns and smaller)
emissions and issued Executive Order G-096-029-031 verifying the following
performance claim on PennzSuppress® D:
"When topically applied as a dust
suppressant in accordance with manufacturers instructions, including a target
concentration of 0.15 gallons of concentrate per square yard of treated
surface, PennzSuppress®
D reduced emissions by approximately 85% after 7,000 vehicle passes
(predominantly light duty) on an engineered unpaved road consisting of a
well-graded aggregate."
For further information on the California ARB Precertification of
PennzSuppress® D, visit their Web
site. The thorough review of the PennzSuppress®
D by the California ARB, independently confirms the effectiveness of
PennzSuppress® D providing further
confidence that PennzSuppress®
is the emulsion that's a solutionTM for
your dust control requirements.
